This weapon set is the new Rogue-only legendary slated for 4.3. All the details aren't known yet, but what we do know is that these weapons will let rogues fly--there will be a stacking increase to Agility that eventually creates wings that can be used for a DPS boost, as well as a slowfall cosmetic one. Check out Blizzard's official preview for more details. It's a nice change compared to being at the mercy of the RNG gods for a Warglaive of Azzinoth back in The Burning Crusade, but one wonders if acquiring this new legendary will just be viewed as a class perk and mandatory item for "balance," instead of something truly rare.Here's a taste of the quests we've datamined so far--they seem to involve signature rogue abilities and lore details, such as Ravenholdt Manor, as well as the Black Dragonflight. There's also a few new datamined items like that are related to the quests.ShadowmourneThis two-handed axe was introduced in Icecrown Citadel, available to Warriors, Death Knights, and Paladins. It is relatively easy to farm with a group at 85 that even just farms normal-mode bosses. The Sacred and the Corrupt: Players loot Light's Vengeance from a special event and Festergut's Acidic Blood and Rotface's Acidic Blood from their respective bosses, as well as turning in 25 Primordial Saronite, available with Justice Points.The following quest, Shadow's Edge, rewards players with Shadow's Edge, a weaker weapon that still visually resembles the legendary.A Feast of Souls: Players must kill 50 mobs inside Icecrown Citadel with Shadow's Edge equipped. This used to be 1000 mobs--so don't complain.The next part is three-pronged, requiring players to kill the bosses of each wing in a special way: Unholy Infusion, Blood Infusion, and Frost Infusion. This took some coordination at level 80--driving an Abomination correctly, using the proper damage-reductions when eating Sindragosa's breaths, etc.The Splintered Throne: Players must loot 50 Shadowfrost Shard from bosses in Icecrown Citadel. This must be in 25-player mode, but can be from both normal and heroic versions of the encounters. Shadowmourne...: Finally, Highlord Darion Mograine will grant the player Shadowmourne.The Lich King's Last Stand: In addition, he'll give you one last quest to kill The Lich King. This step created much needless drama as wielders were able to loot the BoP item Sealed Chest, which led to quests that yielded BoE vanity items, selling for tons of gold. Starting Personal Property allowed the player to receive the following items: Alexandros' Soul Shard: Mograine's Reunion, rewarding the death-knight lookalike mount Reins of the Crimson Deathcharger.Arthas' Training Sword: Muradin's Lament, rewarding the Frost Dwarf disguise Muradin's Favor.Badge of the Silver Hand: The Lightbringer's Redemption, rewarding the glowing Tabard of the Lightbringer.Blood of Sylvanas: Sylvanas' Vengeance, rewarding Sylvanas' Music Box that plays music.Jaina's Locket: Jaina's Locket, rewarding Jaina's Locket, a portal to Dalaran. It's too bad that these items had such drama attached to them; they shed meaningful insights into the motivations and feelings behind some of Arthas' closest friends and enemies.Obtaining this weapon rewards Shadowmourne and Shadowmourne - Guild Edition.Sulfuras, Hand of RagnarosThis fiery two-handed mace makes a reappearance in Firelands with Sulfuras, The Extinguished Hand, but there's something special about creating the original weapon.This weapon is created by fusing the Sulfuron Hammer with the Eye of Sulfuras. A Blacksmith with a minimum skill of 300 is required to make a Sulfuron Hammer. Completing A Binding Contract rewards Blacksmiths with this pattern, which occasionally can be found on the Auction House. The most challenging part of making this hammer will be Sulfuron Ingot (drops from Golemagg the Incinerator) and Blood of the Mountain (drops from level 63 elites in Molten Core, as well as mined from Dark Iron Deposit). The Eye of Sulfuras is a rare drop from Ragnaros.This weapon was extremely overpowered in Vanilla, especially in PvP, due to the proc. Obtaining this weapon rewards Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros and Sulfuras, Hand of Ragnaros - Guild Edition.Thori'dal, the Stars' FuryA rare drop from Kil'jaeden, the last boss in Sunwell Plateau, this bow was the only ranged weapon not to require ammunition (before it was completely removed in Cataclysm). Instead, using the bow created a striking neon-blue shooting animation When it was first introduced, there was some debate if such a bow, without epic ammunition, could scale well compared to the top end of epic weapons like Golden Bow of Quel'Thalas--in addition to the uproar over some guilds giving this bow to rogues first as a glorified stat stick.There was also debate over the lore origins of this weapon. Some believe that it's the bow of Alleria Windrunner due to the High Elven style. Others believe that Halduron Brightwing is now the rightful wielder of the bow, as he's the only NPC in Azeroth to use a bow with that model. Still others think it's related to the inherent energy of the Sunwell or a forgotten hero--much in the same way Book of Highborne Hymns references a time of turmoil between the schism between the Night and High elves.Obtaining this weapon rewards Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury and Thori'dal, the Stars' Fury - Guild Edition.Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the WindseekerThunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker

When this weapon was first implemented, nobody was quite sure what it actually did--or how good it was. Many paladins and hunters picked up the bindings first, before people knew how good it was for both tank threat and melee dps.Quest Line

It begins with Examine the Vessel, followed by Thunderaan the Windseeker, culminating with Rise, Thunderfury!.The quest chain begins when you loot one half of the Bindings, which drop off Baron Geddon and Garr in Molten Core. Upon looting either of these, you must then travel to Silithus and speak with Highlord Demitrian. He will give you the Vessel of Rebirth.The next quest requires you to present the following items to Demitrian:Both the left and the right Bindings of the Windseeker.Essence of the Firelord, which is a 100% drop from Ragnaros if you have the quest.10x Enchanted Elementium Bar, obtained from smelting Elementium Ingot (dropped by Blackwing Technician) with 10x Arcanite Bar and Fiery Core.Upon returning with the required items to Demitrian, he will promptly summon Thunderaan

In the past, only certain classes could complete this chain, but it's now been opened up to any class that can equip a sword. Mages and warlocks, time to get farming.Obtaining this weapon rewards Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker and Thunderfury, Blessed Blade of the Windseeker - Guild Edition.Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient KingsThis mace was coveted by all healers in Wrath of the Lich King, especially paladins, for whom it still remained BiS even in Icecrown Citadel. It was unique for Blessing of Ancient Kings, which provided the target with a shield that absorbs damage equal to 15% of the amount healed for 15 sec.Players learn about the lore behind the mace by completing quests for the Archivum Console in Ulduar. Archivum System says: Created by the titans themselves, Val'anyr was given to the first Earthen king, Urel Stoneheart. With the hammer he was to create and give life to the rest of his brethren.Archivum System says: Val'anyr was shattered during the first war between the Earthen and the Iron Dwarves.Archivum System says: The Weapon's remnants were believed lost in the conflict.Archivum System says: Probability of successful repair by ordinary means available in this world is close to nil.Archivum System says: Please hold while theoretical means are analyzed.Archivum System says: Powerful acidic content theoretically found inside the being Yogg-Saron would count for the liquefaction of Saronite. Submersion in this substance might be sufficient to rebind an alloy of titan origin.To begin creating this weapon, players must loot 30 Fragment of Val'anyr from bosses in Ulduar on 25-player difficulty. Hard-mode bosses have a slightly higher chance to drop fragments. Once 30 fragment are assembled, they are combined into Shattered Fragments of Val'anyr and the player is able to start Ancient History. Players then must complete Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings, in which they throw Unbound Fragments of Val'anyr into Yogg Saron's maw during Deafening Roar. This is only possible with at least one keeper left up, or Three Lights in the Darkness (25 player) or better. (And yes, you can wipe after throwing it in and keep the temporary item.)Obtaining this item rewards Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings and Val'anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings - Guild Edition.The Twin Blades of AzzinothThese visually-striking weapons are my favorite legendary set, but I wish they had a better method of acquisition. They drop from Illidan Stormrage, the final boss in Black Temple--no lore, no special questing--and are available to Warriors, Rogues, and Death Knights. This instance is easy to clear with some friends at 85, although you will need a an interrupter for the Illidari Council and Reliquary of Souls. Pick up Cursed Vision of Sargeras from Illidan as well to complete the look.In Tier 6 and Sunwell, these weapons completely changed a rogue's performance. The first legendary to be an actual set, the bonuses from the two blades effectively provided players with free Haste Potion and Elixir of Demonslaying. It was possible still for an extremely good player without these weapons to beat one with these legendaries, but between the amazing bonuses and weapon speed itemization, it was tough. And as Sunwell featured many bosses classified as demons that were DPS checks, it was near-mandatory to go back to Black Temple every week and hope the RNG gods provided melee with a complete set.As for background, these weapons were wielded by Illidan himself, after he slew the doom guard commander Azzinoth. He trained himself to use these distinctly-curved blades; many demon hunters followed in his footsteps by using similarly-shaped weapons which emphasized a user's dexterity and agility. In-game, fighting in combat with these weapons looks quite striking as they have unique animations.Completing this set awards Warglaives of Azzinoth and Warglaives of Azzinoth - Guild Edition.Atiesh, Greatstaff of the GuardianThe legendary staff wielded by each Guardian of Tirisfal, Atiesh

Players first retrieved 40 Splinter of Atiesh from bosses in original Naxxramas. These were turned into Frame of Atiesh.In Frame of Atiesh, players must speak to Anachronos in Tanaris to learn more, who gives players Atiesh, the Befouled Greatstaff.Atiesh, the Befouled Greatstaff requires players to loot Staff Head of Atiesh (100% droprate from Kel'Thuzad with the quest) and Base of Atiesh (100% droprate from C'Thun with the quest).The final part of the quest chain required players to summon Atiesh, a demon in Stratholme, and to defeat him. Varo'then, head of Queen Azshara's personal guard, and Mannoroth, the pit lord whose blood will corrupt the entire orc race, stand as the last line of defense against those hoping to bar Sargeras's entry into Azeroth. Though both Tyrande and Illidan have fought bravely thus far, the fate of Azeroth will be decided at the Well of Eternity's very brink.
