LENNOXVILLE - Climate change has arrived at Bishop’s University. Thanks to his new $500,000 Canada Research Chair grant – and a $320,000 state-of-the-art laboratory – professor Matthew Peros will get to explore natural climate variability

Peros will use his new paleo-ecology lab to study past climate and ecology and use the information to help discern whether there’s an increasing number of heat waves, droughts and hurricanes and, if so, whether they’re caused by human activities or natural cycles....Peros, who started working at the university three months ago, believes most climate change is anthropogenic, but much work remains to be done to prove the link between humans and climate change.

"The bottom line is weather trumps all when it comes to hen survival and nesting success," said Bogenschutz. "Tell me the amount of snowfall, the amount of rain and the temperature in the spring, and I can tell you if pheasant counts will be up or down that summer. The weather models are that accurate. We are now in a weather pattern of five consecutive winters with heavy snow

Those seen arriving at the event included Google co-founder Larry Page, former US president Bill Clinton and former US vice president Al Gore, who is a member of the Apple board, local media reported. Also seen were high-powered venture capitalists, the founders of US software maker Adobe and actor Tim Allen, who gave voice to character Buzz Lightyear in blockbuster “Toy Story” animated films made by Pixar, a studio created by Jobs.Chauffeur-driven black cars and sports-utility vehicles, some with government plates

We've been keeping an eye on Steve Jobs' private jet expenses ever since Morgan Stanley's Katy Huberty recommended that her clients buy Apple (AAPL) based on how much time Steve Jobs was spending in the air.The argument she made in Feb. 2008, after Jobs was reimbursed a record $550,000 for jet fuel and other expenses

Steve's private jet was offered to him by the Apple board when he officially became the company's CEO, in January 2000. It is a Gulfstream V Jet, worth over $40 million (total cost for Apple: $88 million). The 2009 SEC investigation revealed that "He brought up the idea: 'What I really need is a plane where I can take my family to Hawaii on vacation, go to the East Coast.' and the board agreed". Larry Ellison supposedly declared, "With what he's done, we ought to give him five airplanes!"Flashback: Apple Quits Chamber Of Commerce Over Climate Change"We strongly object to the chamber's recent comments opposing the E.P.A.'s effort to limit greenhouse gases. ... We would prefer that the chamber take a more progressive stance on this critical issue and play a constructive role in addressing the climate crisis..."

the country's energy shortages could not conceivably exist with an informed citizenry that is aware of how well-connected environmental activists have prevented production in resources where North America dominates, such as coal, natural gas, and shale. Further, the massive propaganda campaign centering on anthropogenic global warming could not possibly succeed with an attentive public. In short, "Ignorance is Strength" for Orwellian liberals; pierce it, and the whole century-old liberal-progressive project collapses in a heap of prevarications and pretense.Twitter / @NASAKeeping an eye on the ozone layer, climate change, weather and a whole lot more. (Yeah, it's what we do.) go.nasa.gov/nCc76ZWho Are the ‘Reality Checkers’ Kidding? » Climate ResistanceCurtis has just forgotten about 200 trillion cubic feet of gas, sitting under the North of England. She needs a reality check herself. Pricing carbon from ground to consumer -US study | Energy & Oil | ReutersTo give an incentive to big fossil fuel extractors, like Saudi Arabia, to put a tax on oil aimed at reducing demand for oil

Ulan Bator's air also underscores the increasing contribution of developing world to global warming. Developing nations now emit more than half of mankind's greenhouse gas pollution, fueled by soaring demand for coal, oil and gas to power their booming economies. ...The 10 most polluted cities on the planet are all in emerging market or developing countries: Iran, Pakistan, India, Botswana and Mongolia. Chronic polluter China no longer has any cities in the top 10.The Coming Clash Over Global Warming | GoozNewsthose who control the political and economic systems of the U.S. are moving inexorably toward ignoring the threat, and doing everything in their power to ensure the U.S. remains an outlier when it comes to uncontrolled dependence on fossil fuels.

After last year, which tied 2005 as the warmest year since reliable instrument records began in 1880, this year is proving to be considerably cooler at the global level. In fact, 2011 may rank at the bottom, or just outside of, the top ten list of the warmest years on record, potentially leading to questions of whether global warming is abating.Let me head off such questions right here by saying that long-term global warming continues. The fact that this year is currently running cooler than last year does not in any way invalidate the fact that the world is warming

...Instead of being remembered as the warmest year on record, this year is likely to be viewed as one of the most extreme years - or as one climate researcher recently called it, “the year of living dangerously.”

Climate change poses "an immediate, growing and grave threat" to health and security around the world, according to an expert conference in London.Officers in the UK military warned that the price of goods such as fuel is likely to rise as conflict provoked by climate change increases....Without urgent action, carbon emissions could rise to levels that should cause major alarm, said Chris Rapley, professor of climate science at University College London.Already, he noted, the atmospheric concentration of carbon dioxide has risen to about 380 parts per million [ppm] - whereas in the millions of years before the pre-industrial era, it fluctuated between about 180ppm during Ice Ages and about 280ppm in the warm interglacial periods

"If we don't do something, then at the rate we're going, carbon emissions will continue to accelerate, and the atmospheric concentration is not going to be 450ppm or 650ppm by the end of the century, but 1,000ppm," he said."That is 10 times the difference between an Ice Age and an interglacial

Great news! When it blows, the ash should shade the planet and buy us a few years to prevent the global-warming Gorepocalypse. Who cares about the billions in potential economic damage to humans?UT professor debunks 8 climate change ‘myths’ | San Marcos Mercury | Local News from San Marcos, TexasAsked why the message that humans are causing climate change has been difficult to communicate, Orbach said that a major issue is that it seems simply too expensive to fix. The current remedies, he said, “are economically not viable

A statement released by the group warns that dealing with climate change will further burden the world’s militaries and have “enormous” human and economic costs. These include more frequent extreme weather events, water and food shortages, the spread of diseases, potential ecosystem collapse and threats to livelihoods.... “There are clear linkages here,” Costello said. “Changes in food production - even small changes - can have huge effects on people.” ...“Any shifts in food prices can be catastrophic,” Costello said....The experts also demanded that:... The world create a mechanism to ensure that all people can share equitably the benefits of a safe atmosphere
