Learning kumihimo is in progress -- and the first task (belt for this blouse) has been completed:

Me and "marudai" :)

"Kumihimo" is Japanese braiding technique. Traditionally such braids are made of silk.

The traditional  equipment is a round stand Marudai. But it's rather expensive (60-150$) so we had to improvise and use old wooden stand for plants )

For the time being I use flat bobbins (for floss) instead of traditional round ones. And kopecs as weights and for the counterbalance.

The first try -- four bobbins, cotton thread, 8-ply.

The dark navy blue set, inspired by barmaranta's and N.Kurbatskaya's projects -- the necklace, the bracelet and the earrings.

It's made as a gift for a handmade exchange game )

Saree -- and earrings from the previous blog entry.

And the weather is pleased -- as specially :)

I'm not 100% sure that it's properly wrapped  -- but I've understood the principle ))

The saree is rather short, about 5 m, pale-cream, made from chinese silk.

My childhood dream at last has come true -- I've got a saree! :)

And -- if the weather permits -- on Thursday/Friday I will go to walk with a camera :)

So, I tatted this motif just to know its final size - would it fit to the box ) But as a result I've got this application for jeans )

'Dress Gordon' earrings

In addition to the kilt skirt and the scarf in similar colors )

I do not belong to the clan Gordon! I'm not a highlander :)) I just love this color combination.

For all the time I tat - I amassed this little collection of shuttles.

From time to time I add new ones (but not very expensive, if possible).

Yesterday I received this abalone shutlle.

Most of all I like plastic shuttles (except Clovers), but wooden, bone and abalone ones I used at least one time :)
