So I unpacked a few more treasures today

 The insane salt and pepper shaker hypnotist puppies of 69

 A few little treasures, including cards from my darlings Helga and Vix

This 1950s Wedgwood was my Mum's... she bought it, one piece at a time 

when she was just a teenager and it's been packed in storage for more than forty years. 

I've washed it carefully and plan to use it as my everyday crockery.

No more saving things for best!

The Elvis lambs and his buddies have found a home on the bookshelf

I have some colourful cushions in which to nest 

And I uncovered one of my all time favourite items - my 1970s breadbox

 And after all of that, it was time to put my feet up 

and enjoy a little late afternoon bird watching

Cucumber Watch: Day Nine

I think it's time to put them in the ground... my Baldwin boys are growing up so quickly!

At the moment I have these glamorous curtains: 

Yes, that's an old sheet and a fave vintage crocheted blanket, 

held up with clothes pegs. 

Vogue Living called - they want to do a feature on my window dressings.

So I was looking at the crocheted blanket today and thinking 

how it reminded me of Vix's handmade patchwork curtains... 

And tonight Vix came up with a brilliant idea!

As I am about to start teaching myself to sew, I could make my own patchwork curtains... 

and ASK YOU GUYS to send me the fabrics!

Fed the birds, burned some incense, had a nap

70s seersucker maxi, tshirt, flower and hat - Op shopped 

Necklace - Super cheap jewellery shop

Who doesn't love a cheerful seersucker? This is an old favourite. 

I got my little dining nook together today. 

Super cheap timber table, 1950s dinette chairs and 1960s tablecloth 

plus flowers in an old milk bottle. The wall is still bare and boring but there's more to come. 

And I unearthed a few more treasures this afternoon...

 1966 globe 

 I love birds and bird books and this is my fave - 

1947 What Bird is That? with gorgeous colour plates.

 I have unpacked about 2% of my books - I think it's time for another cull.

 I'll be hanging on to these fabulous treasures though 

as I hope to teach myself to sew over summer. 

Channel Cucumber: All cucumbers! All the time! Day Seven 

I have renamed The Hulk - he is now called 'Alec Baldwin' - 

and his brothers, who are very competitive, are quickly catching up to him... look at them go!

I think I'm doing great, living alone in this isolated place with just the birds and the seedlings for company... it's normal to anthropomorphise vegetable seedlings, right? Right? 

Now, to get a job. 

Today I finally gave in and paid someone to help me move a few things into the house 

and do some general lugging and loading. 

He also painted this wall... which I have been trying to do since I moved in. 

The colour is called 'Happy'!

It has been so great to unpack a few things and start to make my house feel like my home.

 I found a long-forgotten pile of vintage fabrics. 

I might even teach myself to sew one of these days.

This sunny window sill was the perfect spot for some flowers.

 I adore this little Avon bluebird, which was a gift from darling Vix.

 I even unpacked a few frocks.

I unearthed a favourite treasure - this super fab 

atomic 1950s Tupperware picnic salt and pepper set.

 And found a sunny corner for a few treasures in the kitchen.

 Along with these fabulous/hideous aluminium faux wood grain canisters. 

I do adore them, but I am pretty keen for a yellow set.

 My gorgeous little bird looks marvellous against the yellow wall.

 And with one of my favourite vintage crocheted  rugs over the back of the couch, 

I'm ready to snuggle in for the night.

Cucumber Watch: Day Six

I call that one on the bottom right 'The Hulk'. Isn't he a strapping lad?

I might have unpacked maybe 5% of my junk today. 

At this rate it's going to take me a year to unpack - 

and it's going to cost me a frickin fortune in handyman fees... 

I'd better get a job soon!
