1. ___is my least favorite household chore

Cleaning out the cat box is my least favorite household chore......I think I'll leave it at that!

2. Shopping on eBay is my guilty pleasure.  I recently scored an ironstone butter dish for ninety-nine cents and I didn't feel AS guilty but I have to admit that I sometimes get *ahem* caught up in the "thrill of the hunt"  and may slightly exceed my previously established price limit by a little bit and have been seen at work, sitting at my desk in the universally recognized "touchdown" position.

In the morning, when my alarm clock goes off, I think seriously about food stamps, commodity food, bag lady status, anything to keep me from having to get out of bed.

Now that's my kind of bag lady!!

My favorite thing to drink for lunch is water with lemon.  I know you don't care but these are really hard this week!!!!  And I think I'm in a diminished capacity from all the nitrous oxide they gave me Wednesday!

You're the high point of my week!

1. Have you ever been 'asked' to report for jury duty? Were you chosen to serve? If not, were you happy or disappointed?

I've never been 'asked' but I've been 'ordered' several times.  I've been selected once but I've been 'excused' every other time.  Something about my questioning the legitimacy of certain laws or the right of jurors to uphold or not to uphold these laws has somehow made me 'undesirable'.  Go figure.....

2. On a scale of 1-10 (with 10 being very), how mechanically inclined are you? Give an example to back up your answer.

Probably about an 8.  Given the time I can usually figure it out.  Maybe I should say, I can usually take things apart and put them back together.  I'm really good at vacuum cleaners ~ I can take those apart and put them back together in my sleep ~ a skill directly related to my love of animals.  If that doesn't fix it, then we're on to phase two. The local Walmart.  

3. Beets-cabbage-cauliflower-butternut squash....of the four, which is your favorite fall vegetable?

Beets ~ closely followed by cabbage.  Not so much on the cauliflower or squash.  I especially like homemade pickled beets.  I posted my recipe here and Honeybunny has planted a bumper crop for this season.  Can't wait!!

4. What do you recommend to overcome self-pity? 

I don't know if I would recommend it - but for me - I typically give myself a period of time - an hour or so - and wallow in it.  Then move on.  Everyone has challenges.  Everyone has things going on in their lives that bring them down.  But as I read recently ~ eventually you need to "suck in your stomach, put on some color"  and get on with it.

PS ~ I might need to read this book :-D

5. Do you enjoy classical music?

Some.  Not everything ~ but I could say that about pretty much any music genre.  But in the course of answering this question my research cost me $13.62 'cause I ended up buying the sound track from Pride & Prejudice.  LOVE THAT MOVIE!

6. October is National Book Month...what's on your reading list this month?

I recently came into contact with a relative who has done a lot of research into the family.  He sent me an entire CD of documentation about the family.  I mean completely full.  I'll be reading that for many days to come.  Such cool information.  For example ~ I found in some of the documentation where a family story from my great great grandfather ended up being the inspiration for a Disney movie called Sancho The Homing Steer.  I'll be searching for a copy of that immediately!

7. What is your idea of 'cute'?

Anything that involves an animal.   or a baby.  or an animal with a baby.

OK  ~ so way back in May (ish) 1998, I broke a chunk off of one of my back molars.  It broke off below the gumline.  I ended up having to have part of my gum removed and the tooth was built up with some kind of tooth bondo.  When the gum healed I was supposed to go back and have a crown put on the tooth.  WELL.....suffice it to say.....I never went back.  To tell the truth, I ran screaming from the dentist office and never went back.   Until two weeks ago.  Somehow I cracked a chunk of the bondo off of the tooth and so now I really have to get the crown put on.  As well as have the cavities in the teeth on either side of the bondo tooth fixed.  I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon.  The dentist wouldn't just replace the bondo 'cause he knew I wouldn't come back to get the crown.  He was right.  

The good news is the crown was going to cost me $750 in 1998 - tomorrow it's going to cost me $325.  Yes I am desperately looking for a silver lining.

1.  Somehow a sense of direction comes naturally to me.  I don't know why but I can typically stay oriented throughout the most convoluted trek.  But following directions is another matter all together.  By about the third "and then you turn

" ~ I'm confused.

2.  I could spend hours in an antique store.  To me it's like going to a museum.  I love looking at the most mundane item - visualizing how it was used and what life was like in that time.  

3.  If money and time were no consideration, today I would call my boss and tell him I'm just not feelin it today.   Then I would go back to bed and sleep until I felt like getting out of bed.  And then I would go to the antique store.

4.  You should always take time to be polite.  Common courtesy isn't so common anymore.
