This self admitted Apple Fanboy is truly saddened by the news.

I had the distinct pleasure of having met Jobs at Apple Computer of two occasions. I enjoyed a couple of brief, but very satisfying conversations with him. To so many of us, he epitomized the essence of The American Dream. Adopted at an early age, college dropout, 60s counter culture advocate, and power behind the most significant technological advances in the last quarter of the 20th Century as well as the first quarter of the 21st. He will go down in history as peer to the great inventors of our time… Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Henry Ford, Orville & Wilbur Wright, Thomas Watson, and Steve Jobs.

Jobs dared us to “Think Different.” He inspired us to use Macintosh, the computer that changed EVERYTHING! He gave us Woody, and Buzz and Nemo. Heck, he even inspired an entire cottage industry of Super Bowl advertisements with Apple’s take on Orwell during halftime of the 1984 Super Bowl. You know the one. As the iconic “Big Brother” speaks from a giant screen to the huddled mass of drones, a young athletic woman runs toward the screen carrying a large hammer. As she is chased by four police officers wearing black uniforms, helmets with visor covering their faces, she continues towards the screen as “Big Brother” addresses the drones:

“Today, we celebrate the first glorious anniversary of the Information Purification Directives. We have created, for the first time in all history, a garden of pure ideology — where each worker may bloom, secure from the pests purveying contradictory truths. Our Unification of Thoughts is more powerful a weapon than any fleet or army on earth. We are one people, with one will, one resolve, one cause. Our enemies shall talk themselves to death, and we will bury them with their own confusion. We shall prevail!”

The woman hurls the hammer towards the screen, right at the moment Big Brother announces, “We shall prevail!” In a flurry of light and smoke, the screen is destroyed, shocking the people watching the screen. The commercial concludes with scrolling white text on a black background which reads:

On January 24th, Apple Computer will introduce Macintosh. And you’ll see why 1984 won’t be like “1984.”

Jobs showed us that by designing products for the child that resides deep inside of us, and dedicating oneself to be “Insanely Great.” the creative energy within ourselves could be unleashed with unimaginable results!

Apple II, Lisa, Macintosh, Pixar, iMac, iPod, iPhone, iPad – Steve Jobs & his army of associates at Apple, NeXT and Pixar CHANGED EVERYTHING. We are all better off for his amazing contributions to Mankind’s advancements.

A very good friend of mine, also named Steve, introduced me to Apple a long time ago when he gave me a copy of “In Search of Excellence.” I guess the best testimonial I can offer is this. You couldn’t get me to buy a computer running a Microsoft operating system at GUNPOINT! To paraphrase Charlton Heston, “You can take my Macintosh when you pry the mouse from the cold stiff fingers of my dead body!”

Godspeed Steve! You are truly up in the iCloud! Rest in Peace!

President Obama walks into the Bank of America to cash a check. As he approaches the cashier he says, “Good morning, Ma’am, could you please cash this check for me”?

Cashier: “It would be my pleasure, sir. Could you please show me your ID?”

Obama: “Truthfully, I did not bring my ID with me as I didn’t think there was any need to. I am President Barrack H. Obama, president of the United States of America.”

Cashier: “Yes, sir, I know who you are, but with all the regulations and monitoring of the banks because of imposters and forgers, etc., I must insist on seeing ID.”

Obama: “Just ask anyone here at the bank who I am and they will tell you. Everybody knows who I am.”

Cashier: “I am sorry, but these are the bank rules and I must follow them.”

Obama: “I am urging you to please cash this check.”

Cashier: “Look, sir, here’s what we can do: one day Tiger Woods came into the bank without ID. To prove he was Tiger Woods he pulled out his putting iron and made a beautiful shot across the bank into a cup. With that shot we knew him to be Tiger Woods and cashed his check. Another time, Andre Agassi came in without ID. He pulled out his tennis racquet and made a fabulous shot where the tennis ball landed in my cup. With that spectacular shot we cashed his check. So, what can you do to prove that you are really the President of the United States ?”

Obama stood there thinking, and thinking, and finally says: “Honestly, there is nothing that comes to my mind. I can’t think of a single thing”

Cashier: “Will that be large or small bills, Mr. President?”
